About Gabriel F.E.

Gabriel Fábregas Engels was born in Brussels, Belgium in 2007, and is currently studying composition with Yannis Kyriakides and Peter Adriaansz at the Koninklijk Conservatorium (Royal Conservatory) in The Hague.

Gabriel is currently occupied with exploring new tuning systems and harmonic possibilities through the use of microtonality and digital instrument building, as well as the use of synthesizers and electronics in conjunction with acoustic instruments. A number of his works also include isomorphic keyboard(s), which feature similarity of keys and shapes throughout the instrument and make up a large part of his musical language.

Inspiration for Gabriel comes from a collection of dull, often trivial, yet interesting and potentially abstractable aspects of just about anything that can be experienced or observed; from a moment of discomfort that occurs when faced with an unknown word, to the feeling of anger when driving in heavy traffic, and even to the process of cheese-making.
